We finally know the name of the mysterious new 'Star Wars' protagonist

The first teaser trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" features Felicity Jones as the film's protagonist rebel — but who exactly is this new character? In the opening shot of Jones, we hear a voiceover say: "State your name for the record." Her reply?

"Jyn Erso."

The problem is, that name is tricky to understand in the context of the trailer. Many fans were confused about how to spell it, or pronounce it with a non-British accent.

But, as often happens with internet mysteries, a Redditor came to the rescue. "For those wondering," Redditor JonathanAlexander wrote."Her name is JYN ERSO (source: subtitles for the French trailer)." 

We looked up the official YouTube channel for Star Wars France, and lo and behold: Jyn Erso. Watch below, and keep an eye on the subtitles just 7 seconds in:
