Lucasfilm just debuted a new trailer for the first "Star Wars" spinoff movie, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," for fans at its annual "Star Wars Celebration" event.
If you're looking around for the new trailer online, Lucasfilm hasn't released it yet, and they probably won't for a while. For fans who aren't in London at the event and are itching to know what was in the new teaser, a bunch of people and journalists have been sharing details of what was screened and it sounds amazing.
"Rogue One" will take place in between "Star Wars" episodes III and IV and will follow a group of misfits who attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star. Fans received more footage of the film's main protagonist Jyn Erso and were treated to the first tease of Darth Vader at the trailers end.
According to Collider, the trailer starts with a young Erso running. An overture from an older Erso says, "There's not much time. Every day, we grow weaker. While the day grows grimmer, we still have a chance … to make a real difference."
Comicbook.com says throughout the narration there are battle scenes, new locations show, and an X-Wing flying through a forrested planet. New aliens are seen along with Deathtroopers and the Death Star.
Collider reports shots of handcuffed rebels being walked through the streets. There's also a shot of the film's villain, Director Orson Krennic along with Deathtroopers by his side.
The trailer ends with the sound of Darth Vader's ominous breathing — yes, he'll be in the movie, too. However, fans don't get a clean shot of him. You just see a reflection of him on the floor. You can read their great summation of the new trailer here.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be in theaters December 16.
