"Star Wars Celebration"— a massive celebration of all things "Star Wars"— kicked off Friday at the ExCel London exhibition and conference centre.
The big panel of the day was for the next "Star Wars" film, "Rogue One," out in theaters this December. During the event, the first piece of concept art made for the movie was shown off.
Check it out:
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will follow a ragtag group as they go on a nearly impossible mission to steal plans for the Empire's deadly Death Star weapon.
The above image shows off an early rendering of what that group looked like complete with a few new aliens. Here's the actual group that will hunt down the Death Star plans in "Rogue One."
It looks like the female character was probably an early concept for Jyn Erso, who will be played by Felicity Jones in the December release.
Here's how her character looks now:
As for that droid off to the left, it looks like he made it into the final film, too. Alan Tudyk is playing a droid named K-2SO.
During the panel, actor Diego Luna, who plays Cassian Andor in the film, said K-2SO will be one of the most pivotal members of the team:
"One of the most important members of this team is a droid, an Imperial droid that is programmed by the rebellion,"said Luna, according to Slashfilm. "His name is K-2SO. He’s probably the best friend Cassian has in the Rebellion, or the only one."
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be in theaters December 16, 2016.
