- Hasbro is selling an exclusive Chewbacca set at San Diego Comic-Con.
- The event is from July 19-22.
- While Chewie roars, "Star Wars" fans are really going to want this for the adorable porgs from "The Last Jedi."
- Two of them have posable arms and the other two are porg babies.
- They're the perfect size to climb all over and pose with Chewie.
- Limited quantities of the set will be available at booth #3329 for $49.99.
- If you're not heading to SDCC, INSIDER was able to get an early peek at the set.
In addition to seeing stars from some of their favorite TV shows and movies at San Diego Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center from July 19 to July 22, fans will also be lining up for exclusive toys and items that will be sought out on the convention floor.
Among this year's most-anticipated exclusives is Hasbro's Star Wars Forces of Destiny Chewbacca and Porgs.
It comes with an 11-inch roaring Chewie figure. But I'm pretty sure it's going to be among the first items to sell out at the con because of the posable scene-stealing porgs and baby porgs that come in the collector's set from "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
If you're heading to Comic-Con, you can find Chewie and the Porgs at booth #3329 for $49.99. If not, INSIDER got an early look at Chewie and the Porgs. Anyone who had their heart stolen by the flightless birds from Ahch-To will definitely want this set.
Like Hasbro's other "Star Wars" exclusives, the Forces of Destiny playset comes in a pretty sleeve before you get to the toy itself.
Fans of porgs may want it just for the drawings of the baby porgs, which are called porglets.
Once you take the sleeve off, Chewie is unveiled on board the Millennium Falcon with a few stowaways in the form of porgs and two baby porglets.
The back of the box shows Chewie and the porgs on the planet of Ahch-To from "The Last Jedi."
Here's what the text says:
"Journeying to the sacred island of Ahch-To to help Rey find the exiled Jedi master Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca meets the porgs, a hyper-curious species of avian found throughout the secluded island. While Rey is busy trying to mater the Force with Luke's guidance, the adorable avians win over the usually fierce Chewie. And when it's time to leave the planet and join the Resistance, the porgs join the heroes aboard the Millennium Falcon, beginning an epic adventure that will take them far from their home."
Let's take them out of the box.
Like the other dolls in the Forces of Destiny line, Chewie is pretty posable, but we were hoping his arms would bend a bit more to better hold his bowcaster.
For about $50, we were a bit bummed the bowcaster doesn't come with any working arrows to shoot.
The pouch on Chewie's bandolier doesn't open either. I guess that's less weird because he doesn't have anything to store, but it would have been fun if Chewbacca could have carried one of the porgs inside.
On the plus side, if you press Chewie's chest, he runs through five different Wookiee roars taken out of the movies. Here's a look at how that sounds:
But the real reason you're going to want this set is for the little porgs who come in the set.
And the porg babies.
Unfortunately, their eyes don't open, and you can't take them out of the nest, but they are fuzzy to touch.
The two other porgs have posable wings so you can have them interact with each other:
Or you can have them climb all over Chewie.
That's honestly my favorite part of this set.
Here's everything together:
The Chewie and the Porgs set is recommended for ages four and up. If you're not at SDCC, INSIDER is told that limited quantities will be available at select locations and online retailers following Comic-Con.
