  • Hamill posted a series of hilarious images to Twitter on Monday, showing past British stars who have appeared in the films, as well as Styles, dressed as Stormtroopers.
  • "All the clues point in one direction: #Stylestrooper," the actor said in his tweet.

"Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill hinted that former One Direction singer Harry Styles could have a cameo as a Stormtrooper in the new film "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker."

Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, posted a series of hilarious images to Twitter on Monday, which showed British stars like Daniel Craig, Tom Hardy, and even Princes Harry and William photoshopped onto Stormtrooper bodies.

He also included a photo of Styles from when he wore the iconic black and white costume to a party hosted by Kacey Musgraves in October.

"Wonder who'll be the #SecretStormtrooper in this one?" Hamill, 68, captioned the photos. "Considering they've all been UK superstars (two royals and two actors) but still no singer, all the clues point in one direction: #Stylestrooper."

The actor was referencing the fact that Craig, Hardy, and the princes had all made brief cameos in Star Wars films throughout the years, although Harry and William's cameos were ultimately cut from the final version of the film

On Twitter, fans were thrilled at the prospect of seeing Styles, 25, as a Stormtrooper in the upcoming film.

Styles, a noted "Star Wars" fan, isn't the only musician who's suspected of making a cameo in the upcoming film.

In November, a snippet of singer Ed Sheeran in the new trailer for "The Rise of Skywalker" had fans wondering if Sheeran would be continuing his trend of appearing in fantasy series with a cameo in the "Star Wars" film. Disney subsequently shut down the speculation, saying that Sheeran wasn't confirmed to appear in the film

Representatives for Disney didn't immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
